Job Description

 

POSITION TITLE:          Coordinator/Director                           RATE: $11.00 TO $13.25/hr. based on experience       

DEPARTMENT:       CATV Board, Community Access                REPORTS TO:            CATV Board Chairman

POSITION TYPE: Part Time; varies weekly/ 8-14 hrs not to exceed 599hrs/annually

 

SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the CATV Board, the Coordinator/Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the WLOO public access cable channels, to include data entry, technical work, training, community outreach, and public information, in accordance with board policies and procedures.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

 

Uphold the policies and procedures outlined by the CATV Board; make recommendations for changes or improvements, forward planning, and evaluation of the channel’s success.

 

Review all correspondence and programming media. Tape and edit programs; produce a daily/weekly/monthly schedule for video programs.  Prepare, design, and institute computer entries for cablecast.

 

Monitor the broadcast quality and community calendar accuracy on the PEG channels.

 

Recruit, train, manage, and provide backup for paid or volunteer videographers for the taping of public meetings/events. Oversee individuals or groups to do videotaping, script writing, interviewing, and editing as needed.  Provide support in planning and developing video program(s).

 

Write and maintain procedures for Use of Facilities and Equipment. 

 

Develop and conduct orientation, training, and certification to individuals for use of equipment. Arrange for the loan to and use of equipment to certified individuals.

 

Maintain all equipment and make recommendations to purchase or replace equipment to the CATV Board.

 

Make provisions for back-up during any absence.

 

Initiate and assist in fundraising efforts, including program contracts, as needed.

 

Promote WLOO in the community to increase awareness and encourage viewer-ship and participation.

 

Develop meeting agendas and compilation of minutes in conjunction with the Chairman.  Prepare written reports for CATV Board, others as needed.

 

Develop and manage an annual budget.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to above; other reasonably related duties may be assigned.

 

CERTIFICATIONS:  Valid regular State of Wisconsin Driver’s License required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma required.  Bachelor’s degree/Associate degree in communications, video, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office including PowerPoint.  Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated individual.

 

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

Computers, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, telephone, video cameras, tripod, VCRs, Leightronix Scheduler, and TV monitors, microphones, headphones, other job related equipment, automobile.

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent sitting, some standing and walking, occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lb., climbing stairs, reaching up, reaching across, and reaching down.  Required only in unusual situations: lifting and carrying of up to 50 lb., stooping, crawling, and running.

 

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.  Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulates program schedules, organize training sessions, and quickly troubleshoot equipment.   Must be able to for set-up and operate equipment.  Ability to visualize creatively and frequently handles multiple tasks at once.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Studio setting: with some noise and occasional dust.  Remote locations: with varying conditions both indoors and outdoors.  Public Speaking may be required.
