PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF
WATERLOO WATER & LIGHT UTILITY
Effective March 1, 2006 the City of Waterloo will no longer be paying for 100% of the water utility charge for public fire protection (PFP) service. In the past, it has paid this charge, and in turn, recovered the entire amount of its payment through property taxes. As such, the Waterloo Water & Light Utility, as directed by the City of Waterloo, has requested the Public Service Commission authorization to collect $24,768, or 18.9%, of the total PFP charge from Utility customers based on the Equivalent Meters Method, in accordance with Wis. Stat. Sec. 196.03(3) which permits a public utility to include the charges in the water utility bill of each customer of the public utility of the City.
This change in billing for PFP will allow for the collection of PFP charges from property owners who are not subject to property taxes. The City does not intend to charge non-general service customers (persons who are not customers of the municipal utility and own land located in the city).
The proposed monthly PFP charges are as follows:
Meter Size Proposed Monthly PFP Charges
3/4” $1.15
1” $2.80
1 ¼” $4.15
1 ½” $5.60
2” $9.00
3” $17.00
4” $28.00
6” $56.00
10” $134.00
12” $179.00
Anyone wishing to petition the Commission regarding this matter should file, in writing, within 20 days of this notice, at the following address:
